The owner of a five storey building in Psirri, Athens, having a clear view of the Akropolis, requested the artistic handling and architectural revamping of the two top floors destined to be fully equipped rooms for the lodging reservation website Airbnb (www.airbnb.com) that offers a network of worlwide sophisticated accommodation.
The requested layout had to refer to the industrial character that lofts usually display in order to have a minimum amount of construction interventions, while respecting the existing building architecture and the available budget for the project.
Main goal of the study was to have the biggest possible number of beds with alternative solutions on every floor, so that the client could have the ability to chose the right combination of rooms for his business.
Moreover and apart from the industrial design that had to be maintained and the definition of the number of beds and rooms, was the design of objects such as original beds, nightstands, wardrobes, mirrors and lamps. This whole project reflected themes inspired by the artist Jannis Kounellis and the famous photographer Fred Boissonas.
